Sometimes a client already has the right accessories, and just needs some help arranging them. This client wanted a modern, understated look to her newly-remodeled living room.
Golly, it’s a busy year! One project that I am especially proud of is a family home in Needham. I’ve been working with this family for almost nine months, and the house has already been transformed. A few rugs and accent furniture pieces need to be finalized, and the finishing touch of accessories has not even begun, but I can’t help but give you a sneak peek.
The living room and dining room are the first rooms you see once stepping into the foyer of the house. We had originally decided on a soft neutral taupe for the walls to keep it simple, but once the painting began in the other rooms, my clients were so inspired they wanted to go more dramatic.
We had already ordered the sofa in a red herringbone texture, an armchair in a cream-and-tan woven ikat, and the window treatments in persimmon trellis embroidery on pale linen. Their dining room chairs were recovered with a kid-proof cayenne Ultrasuede. With so much pattern and color in the furnishings, I was thrilled to be able to bring drama to the walls as well.
After perusing Houzz for inspiration, we decided on a deep chocolate brown with a hint of red: Fresh Brew 1232 by Benjamin Moore.
I am in love with the way it turned out! And more importantly, so are my clients. I can’t wait to show you the finished space in a few months!
When you have kids, your bedroom can be a peaceful, calming haven, a place for you to get away from the chaos of, well… your kids. These upholstered beds, with feminine curves, dramatic tufting, and elegant nailhead trim, set the tone for a decidedly “grown-up” space.
If you hadn’t noticed, all of these beds have upholstered side rails and footboards — no frumpy bedskirts for me!
What’s your dream bed?
I am proud to report that ROI Design ended 2013 with a full dance card of exciting projects to continue into the new year. For a sneak peek into what I’m working on, follow me on Pinterest, where I collect and share ideas with my clients.
It’s going to be a fabulous year, especially if my love for Pantone’s Color of the Year, Radiant Orchid, is any sign of things to come.
Happy New Year!
It’s so gratifying when a project finally moves from the design phase into the execution phase! The first rooms for my current project — a house in Brighton — are starting to take shape. Here’s a peek at the master bedroom and walk-in closet.
There is more work to be done, but I’m so excited about my progress I had to share! This suite was dark, cluttered, and traditional, anchored by an oversized sleigh bed in espresso leather. Lightening up the walls, selecting a new bed upholstered in linen, and shifting the furniture layout, give the bedroom a clean, elegant, modern air that reflects the style of the young family who lives here.
And the closet, previously outfitted with shelving and rods from a big box store, was so wrong for my client’s needs it was literally falling apart. I partnered with Closet Solutions in Somerville to turn this walk-in closet into a gorgeous, functional dressing room with touches of Hollywood glam. Isn’t the zebra rug FABULOUS?!
More to come as this project continues to take shape! Follow me on Pinterest for a preview of my ideas.
